Dawn Yelvington, PhD, LMFT is the clinical director of Healing Hearts Therapies & Equine, LLC and a qualified supervisor. Her organization provides both private practice sessions and EAGALA certified, equine assisted therapy.
For the last six years her organization has provided equine assisted therapy services to individuals in two co-occurring short-term residential facilities, one specific to clients with substance use disorders and one addressing the needs of veteran-specific populations.
She has experience working with adults, adolescents, couples and families who are struggling with relational conflicts, self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, and behavioral problems.
As a therapist and supervisor, she is open and supportive in her approach with her clients and supervisees, with the goal of empowering them to function at their optimal potential. She encourages those that she works with to achieve a higher level of self-awareness, self-acceptance and the courage to face their struggles. Her research interest includes parental bereavement, equine assisted psychotherapy, military populations, group work and addictions. She has facilitated therapeutic groups for more than 13 years.
Dr. Yelvington utilizes a variety of therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused and Experiential Therapies.
