Dr. Dawn Yelvington, LMFT

Dawn Yelvington, PhD, LMFT, Qualified Supervisor, provides traditional private practice and/or telehealth sessions for adult individuals (DeLand, FL). She also provides individual and group equine-assisted psychotherapy (Pierson, FL).

Her specialties are working with individual adult clients who are struggling with relational conflicts, self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, addiction, and trauma.  She has 15+ years of experience working with veteran populations.  She is also certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), used for addressing trauma with a variety of populations.

As a therapist, she is open and supportive in her approach with her clients, with the goal of empowering them to function at their optimal potential.  She encourages those that she works with to achieve a higher level of self-awareness, self-acceptance, and the courage to face their struggles.  

Dr. Yelvington believes in treating the individual as a whole, recognizing that mind, body, and spirit are all interconnected.  She uses an integrative therapeutic approach that embraces theories from Solution-Focused, Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, and Experiential Therapies.  She strives to meet the clients where they are in their current life path and assist them in gaining the skills and mindset to achieve the life they desire.

Ashley Schachter

Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

Working under Dr. Yelvington’s supervision, Ashley is a recent graduate with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and concentration in Crisis & Trauma Counseling. She provides traditional private practice sessions for individuals (DeLand, FL), as well as assists Dr. Yelvington in providing individual and group equine-assisted psychotherapy (Pierson, FL). Ashley’s main goal is to provide a safe space where the counselor and client are able to collaborate in order for the client to work on past and present struggles or situations. She believes that the work of the client plays a crucial role in therapy and works to ensure that the client feels fully accepted, known, loved, and safe in this environment at all times. She is also certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), used for addressing trauma with a variety of populations.
